Today, AMIGOS honors Juneteenth—a significant day in U.S. history that commemorates the end of slavery and marks a pivotal moment in the United States` journey toward freedom and equality.

On June 19, 1865—over two years after President Lincoln`s Emancipation Proclamation—Major General Gordon Granger landed in Galveston, Texas, with the news that the war had finally ended and enslaved people were now free. We encourage everyone to take time to reflect, learn, and take action today in honor of Juneteenth. Let`s commit to continuing the fight for a just and equitable world!
