Welcome back home from your AMIGOS experience!

We hope you had a safe and healthy return home, and an impactful experience that you’re ready to bring into other areas of your life.

As part of your return, we ask that you and your family take a moment to reflect on your AMIGOS experience and consider leaving a review on GoOverseas, GoAbroad, or TeenLife. These reviews are extremely important for AMIGOS program staff when developing new programs, like the ones we launched this summer! And, leaving a review helps potential volunteers learn more about what an AMIGOS program looks like, from the words of individual volunteers like you!

Below are the links for each review site, and helpful tips and tricks for how to get started. To see this info on a flyer, click here!

  • Why would recommend this program to others?

Program: Discover AMIGOS – Panama
October 25, 2021
“I have never experienced anything quite like my trip to Panama with AMIGOS. It was an amazing opportunity to completely immerse myself in another culture and practice my Spanish skills. I was able to have authentic experiences that would not have been available to me otherwise. Additionally, I was able to meet the best people from both Panama and around the world. Making connections with many different people that I would not have had the chance to meet otherwise was certainly one of the highlights of my trip! Also, I loved being able to try new foods, explore the beautiful nature, and learn about how the lives of people in Panama were different from, but also similar to, my own.”

Program: Amigos de las Americas – Colorado
October 1, 2021
“I really liked my experience on this trip. First of all, the setting was beautiful. This was my first time out West and the mountain vistas were incredible. Pretty much everywhere we went was breathtaking. Secondly, the activities and work we did were great. Whether it was working on a farm, learning about wolves and bighorn sheep, or whitewater rafting, each experience felt educational and invigorating. I probably tried more things in those 3 weeks than any other. Perhaps most importantly, the people I went on the trip with were great. All three AMIGOS staff members on the trip made it as good as possible, and the 13 other participants were all uniquely interesting. Half the fun came from getting to know everyone, and I definitely made some great friends. I highly recommend this trip to anyone interested in conservation, the outdoors, getting to know others, and experiencing some independence!”

Program: Amigos de las Americas – Costa Rica
May 6, 2021
“Spending a month living in Costa Rica through Amigos was the greatest experience of my life thus far. In 2017, I volunteered through AMIGOS and spent a month living in rural Costa Rica with a host family. The memories I created, conversations I shared, and connections I formed will forever impact my global perspective. No other abroad program is as immersive or powerful as AMIGOS. At 15, I was able to live in a foreign country, and work with community members on a community-based project. I recommend AMIGOS to anyone that is interested in gaining a broader global perspective and challenging their outlook on life. Although at times it was difficult to be away from home and live in a new place without hot water, wifi, and other luxuries, my experience with AMIGOS is something that I will forever cherish and be grateful for.”
