AMIGOS is dedicated to making our programs accessible to every young person. We offer two flexible models for pre-departure activities and training: the National Participant path and the Chapter Participant path.
The National Participant path is open to students interested in our:
National Participants based in the United States or internationally apply through the National Office, complete training online and during condensed workshops, and may fundraise for their trips individually. The National Participant path is a great option if you do not live near a local chapter or have a schedule that conflicts with local, in-person activities.
The Chapter Participant path is open to students interested in Summer Programs who live near a local chapter.
Chapter Participants join one of 25 local chapters across the United States. They fundraise, train, and receive local support from their chapter throughout the school year. Training generally takes place over several sessions throughout the Spring semester. Chapter participants usually pay a program fee and work on a group fundraising campaign.
If you are considering a Summer Program and live near a local chapter, we encourage you to apply through the Chapter Participant path. Chapters provide fantastic in-person support and represent the diversity and strength of the extended AMIGOS community. Each chapter is run by a volunteer board of directors and is a locally registered AMIGOS organization.
