For over 51 years, Amigos de las Américas has been committed to creating a world where each young person becomes a life-long catalyst for social change.

Our mission is inextricably connected to our partners, host communities, participants, and friends in Latin America. In an increasingly globalized world, we work to inspire and build young leaders through collaborative community development and immersion in cross-cultural experiences. We believe deeply in the core values that drive our mission: diversity, community, leadership, and respect.

AMIGOS participants from all regions of the United States come to see multicultural understanding as a great gift. We show how community-led solutions empower people to be agents of their own change. And we teach that even if we have differences, there is greater power in building bridges than in building walls.

We stand strong with our partners in Latin America. We thank them for the generosity, openness, kindness, and respect they have extended to our program and our participants. We pledge to continue to do the same. Now more than ever, we must provide opportunities that allow us to see one another’s humanity and understand that what truly brings us together transcends borders.

Our participants continuously show us that young people can bring about meaningful change. We take this work very seriously and welcome anyone who would like to join us, whether that’s by participating in a program, volunteering with one of our local chapters, or donating to send those with fewer financial resources to the field.
