¡Hola panas (friends)!
Over the last two weeks that we (Project Staff) have all lived in Cuenca, Ecuador, we’ve picked up several helpful local vocab words that will help you hit the ground running when you arrive shortly! (These are in addition to the vocabulary that was introduced in the Project Information Packet, which you should definitely check out!)
¿Qué más? o ¿Qué onda? = ¿Cómo estás?
Ejemplo:
“¿Qué más, Caro?”
“¡Muy bien! Justo terminamos nuestra preparación por el Lip Sync Battle anoche.”
Fresco = chill
Ejemplo:
“Mi maestro de español es muy atento pero fresco también.”
“Que genial. Es muy bueno tener un maestro con quien estás cómodo hablando mucho.”
Chendo = broma = just kidding
Ejemplo:
“¡Hay una hormiga sobre tu hombro!”
“¿En serio?”
“¡Jaja chendo, chendo!”
Buenazo = Muy bueno
“¿Qué tal te pareció la excursión al Jardín Botánico?
“¡Estuvo buenaza! Muy muy linda!”
