Johnny Maldonado

Originally from Tacna, Peru, I studied International Business and have always been drawn to work that brings people together and creates opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and make an impact in their communities.

My journey with AMIGOS began in 2020 as a Mentor for the first Community Impact Project, followed by serving as Director of the Montañas y Mar Project in Costa Rica in 2022. Since then, I’ve continued growing with the organization and working behind the scenes to help make meaningful international experiences possible for participants, volunteers, and communities.

I’m passionate about travel, languages, and the way cultural exchange challenges us to see the world from different perspectives. I love experiencing new cultures, learning from the people I meet, and seeing how stepping outside of what is familiar can change the way we understand both others and ourselves.
