AMIGOS was featured in the Louisville Courier-Journal in an article by Elaine Rooker Jack. Several local students were selected to take part in the Youth Ambassadors Program, where they spent time in Uruguay or Ecuador this summer before returning to the U.S. to initiate a sustainable community service project.

The AMIGOS Youth Ambassadors Program is open to students across the United States as well as students from Ecuador, Colombia, Paraguay, and Uruguay. They spend three weeks abroad, living with host families and learning from local nonprofit organizations. Then, they return to their home country, where they complete a community service initiative over the course of the next eight months.

According to the article, Program Coordinator Logan Falley said the program “is truly a unique experience that not only promotes understanding for other cultures, but also fosters leadership in youth.  Working with the US Youth Ambassadors is a privilege because each participant is a ray of light that is truly inspiring. This program and its participants make me optimistic for the future.”
