Olas y Cerros: Bienvenidos a turrialba!
Estos 3 primeros días han estado cargados de mucho briefing y preparándonos para toda la aventura que nos espera en los próximos días. Los voluntarios han estado rodeados de naturaleza y la vibra Pura Vida. En nuestro primer día recibimos la charla de Bienvenida del CATIE en Turrialba e hicimos algunos juegos para romper el hielo y hacer amistades.
En nuestro segundo día comenzamos con las actividades de servicio en la Granja de Cabras, donde aprendimos como hacer un sistema circular y autosustentable, y la importancia de limpiar los corrales de las cabras, recoger pasto, sembrar vegetales y rotular el nombre de cada una de las cabras y los siembros.
Y por último en nuestro tercer día, ha sido tan emocionante y lleno de actividades que no podemos creerlo. Hicimos voluntariado en Casa Sostenible, un lugar donde de se reutiliza cada material, residuo de lo que se produce, etc. Allí movimos un puente de madera viejo y lo llevamos al compostaje, cortamos el césped para hacer cubrir las camas de yuca y cúrcuma, sembramos algunos vegetales como frijol, gengibre y otros, lavamos y colocamos algunas laminas de zinc para el techo del vivero, y cocinamos chips de productos locales como plátanos y malanga (un poco salados nos quedaron 😊).
Por último, comenzamos nuestras primeras clases de español y disfrutamos de una tradicional y local Feria del Queso, Turrialba nuestro site 1 es reconocido por su queso, de muy buena calidad y siempre fresco. En el CATIE este fin de semana se celebraba esta tradicional festividad donde pudimos interactuar con locales, comprar productos ricos, tradicionales y locales, disfrutar de la música, circo, bailes y comida deliciosa.
Tres días cargados de muchisimas emociones y con mucho por hacer aún.

Olas y Cerros: WELCOME TO turrialba!
These first 3 days have been loaded with a lot of briefing and preparing us for all the adventure that awaits us in the coming days. The volunteers have been surrounded by nature and the Pura Vida vibe.
On our first day we received the CATIE Welcome talk in Turrialba and made some games to break the ice and make friends.
On our second day we started with the service activities at the Goat Farm, where we learned how to make a circular and self-sustaining system, and the importance of cleaning the goat pens, collecting grass, planting vegetables and labeling the name of each of the goats and the sowers.
And finally on our third day, it’s been so exciting and full of activities that we can’t believe it. We volunteered at Casa Sostenible, a place where every material, waste from what is produced, etc. is reused. There we moved an old wooden bridge and took it to composting, cut the grass to cover the beds of cassava and turmeric, planted some vegetables such as beans, ginger and others, washed and placed some zinc sheets for the roof of the nursery, and cooked chips of local products such as bananas and malanga (they ended up a little salty 😊)
Finally, we started our first Spanish classes and enjoyed a traditional and local Cheese Fair. Turrialba our site 1 is recognized for its cheese, of very good quality and always fresh. In the CATIE, this weekend a traditional festivity was celebrated where we could interact with locals, buy rich, traditional and local products, enjoy the music, circus, dances and delicious food.
Three days full of many emotions and with much to do still.
