It’s been a wild week! We arrived in Parismina on Saturday after a long bus and boat ride.

We’ve been having a blast in this little town by the sea, bonding with our host families and with each other. Life goes a little slower here, but our lives seem to speed up with all of the things we’ve done! First and foremost, our nightly turtle walks have given us the opportunity to see several turtles, two of which we got to assist while they were laying their eggs! It was an absolutely magical experience (not pictured out of respect for the privacy of the turtles). We got to see some more animals on the tour de canalés (otters, monkeys, and even crocodiles!)

We’ve also been doing plenty of volunteering! We planted coconut trees to help block out the artificial light of the town, guiding turtles down the beach.

We also did a big beach clean-up and did some volunteering at the local elementary school. Lastly, we were so excited about working with community members to prepare for the annual festival! It’s been a few years, due to covid precautions, but we are really hyped to be able to experience it this weekend! In regards to leisure activities, we had a movie night, an empanada class, a bracelet-making class, and lots and lots of time at the beach.

There’s only a few days left of this adventure, and we’re sad to be saying our goodbyes so soon. But we plan to live these last moments together to their fullest!

Con amor,
Olas y Cerros

PS: Feliz Cumpleaños a Danae, Banjamin, y Lilly!

Olas y Cerros

PS: Feliz Cumpleaños a Danae, Banjamin, y Lilly!!
