Freddy, Project Director
Originally from Leon, Nicaragua – Freddy considers himself a change-maker, passionate about community development and volunteer opportunities. With more than 8 years of post-secondary education at international level, Freddy has earned an associate degree in business management in the USA, he also holds a bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management from Nicaragua and completed a dual diploma program in Tourism Management & Teacher Training in Salzburg, Austria, Europe. He has been very optimistic in learning new things and being opened to them by challenging himself. As an international student, he has been able to live and share time with people from more than 25 nationalities from Africa, Europe, and Asia.

Con más de 8 años de educación post-secundaria a nivel internacional. Freddy obtuvo un título de asociado en gestión empresarial en los EE. UU., también tiene una licenciatura en Gestión Turística de Nicaragua y completó un programa de doble diploma en Gestión Turística y Formación de Profesores en Salzburgo, Austria, Europa. donde ha sido muy optimista en aprender cosas nuevas y abrirse a ellas desafiándose a sí mismo. Como estudiante internacional ha podido vivir y compartir tiempo con personas de más de 25 nacionalidades de Africa, Europa y Asia.
Stephanie, Associate Project Director
¡Hola! My name Is Stephanie, and l am so excited to be the Associate Program Director for Valle y Veraguas with AMIGOS this summer. Although It is my first time working with AMIGOS, I have been teaching students of all ages Spanish and English for over ten years. I love teaching languages and facilitating cultural exchange in and out of the classroom. In addition to teaching abroad, I have studied, traveled, and/or worked in Costa Rica, Belize, Colombia, Chile, Uruguay, Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Scotland, England, Italy, Ecuador, Panamá, and France. In 2017, I received my master’s in International Education from Endicott College (Madrid, Spain campus). Since then, I have been teaching Spanish and English as a Second Language in Richmond, Virginia, United States.
¡Hola! Me llamo Stephanie y estoy muy emocionada de ser la subdirectora para el programa de Valle y Veraquas este verano. Aunque es mi primera vez trabajando con AMIGOS, llevo más de diez anos enseñando español e inglés a estudiantes de todas las edades. Me apasiona enseñar idiomas y facilitar el intercambio cultural dentro y fuera del aula. Además de enseñar en el exterior, he estudiado, viajado, y/o trabajado en Costa Rica, Belice, Colombia, Chile, Uruguay, México, Espana, Argentina, Escocia, Inglaterra, Italia, Ecuador, Panamá, y Francia. En 2017, obtuve mi maestría en Educación Internacional de la Universidad Endicott (campo Madrid, España). Nelie, Project Supervisor
Hi everyone! My name is Nelida (but I also go by Nelle) and I am so excited to be one of the Project Supervisors for Valle y Veraguas with AMIGOS this summer! This will be my first year working with AMIGOS. I am from Los Angeles, California and will be graduating from Smith College in a few weeks. At Smith, I study Spanish and Government, and I was able to study a semester abroad in Córdoba, Spain, and a few weeks in Cuba. I really enjoy learning about human rights and history. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, reading, hiking, and hanging out with friends. I am very excited to spend the summer in Panamá and meet the rest of the team!
¡Hola a todos! ¡Mi nombre es Nélida (pero también me llaman Nellie) y estoy muy emocionada de ser una de las Supervisoras de Proyectos para Valle y Veraguas con AMIGOS este verano! Este será mi primer año trabajando con AMIGOS. Soy de Los Angeles, California y me graduaré de Smith College en unas pocas semanas. En Smith, estudio español y gobierno y pude estudiar un semestre en el extranjero en Córdoba, España y algunas semanas en Cuba. Realmente distruto aprender sobre las derechos humanos y la historia. En mi tiempo libre, distruto viajar, leer, hacer caminatas y salir con amigos y ¡estoy muy emocionada de pasar el verano en Panamá y conocer al resto del equipo!
Raul, Project Supervisor
Hello everyone! My name Is Raul, and I was born in Laredo, Texas. I recently graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor’s in Sociology and a minor in Rhetoric and Writing In May. I will be pursuing my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling in the Spring of 2024 at the University of North Texas in Denton. Additionally, throughout my college experience, I was fortunate enough to study abroad in Dubal and Abu Dhabi. I am beyond thrilled to be a Project Supervisor for the Valle y Veraguas site and explore my Latin American identity alongside many other Latinos from different backgrounds for the first time. I am passionate about mental health, poetry, and empathy for the myriad of human experiences that exist out in the world. I am a writer, I dabble in contemporary dance, and enjoy swimming and tennis as well! I am very friendly and sociable, so I look forward to getting to know everyone on staff and creating authentic connections, alongside unforgettable memories!
¡Hola a todos! Mi nombre es Raúl y nací en Laredo, Texas. Recientemente me gradué de la Universidad de Texas en Austin con una licenciatura en sociología y una especialización en retórica y escritura en mayo. Seguiré mi maestría en Consejería de Salud Mental en la primavera de 2024 en la Universidad del Norte de Texas en Denton. Además, a lo largo de mi experiencia universitaria, tuve la suerte de estudiar en el extranjero en Dubai y Abu Dhabi. Estoy emocionado de ser un supervisor de proyectos para el sitio de Valle y Veraguas y explorar mi Identidad latina junto con muchos otros latinos de diferentes orígenes! Me apasiona la salud mental, la poesia y la empatía por la gran cantidad de experiencias humanas que existen en el mundo. Soy escritor, me gusta la danza contemporánea y también distruto de la natación y el tenis. Soy muy amigable y sociable, así que espero conocer a todos y crear conexiones auténticas, junto con memorias inolvidables!
