Summer is almost here, and AMIGOS is excited for all of our 2019 volunteers! In the second week of this sharing these incredible young leaders, we have Ella, Jasmine, and another Ella who will be heading into the field soon!

Ella Glasscock
Project: Santa Elena, Ecuador
Location: Austin, TX
Favorite food: Tacos
Pets: 2 cats—one named Luxe and the other named Ozzy.
Llama or sloth? Sloths. They’re cuter!
Favorite band/artist: This is an impossible question! But if I had to pick… Radiohead.
What’s your superpower? Puns
What are you most excited to do this summer in Latin America? Build relationships with people from a culture that is not my own and speak Spanish!
Why did you decide to do AMIGOS? I did check out other programs, but AMIGOS stuck out because of its authenticity. The friends who recommended the program to me said that it was truly life changing, and the experience of staying with a host family was also appealing to me.
Favorite sport or team: Liverpool Football Club (soccer)
Favorite book: Educated by Tara Westover
What do you want to be when you grow up? A rockstar
Describe yourself in 5 words or less: Creative, punny, resilient, musical, and smiles.
What’s something you want people to know about you? What brings me the most joy is seeing that I brought someone else joy, whether that’s with making music, silly puns, or even just a smile. You never know what could turn a frown upside down 🙂
Jasmine Vargas
Project: Dominican Republic
Location: Alexandria, VA
Favorite food: Vegetarian dumplings and seaweed

What’s your superpower? Making friends no matter the situation
What are you most excited to do this summer in Latin America? I’m excited to make connections with new people and spread love to everyone I meet.
Why did you decide to do AMIGOS? I want to continue pursuing my love for service and meet like-minded people in hopes of making it to the Peace Corps one day.

Why did you decide to do AMIGOS? I found out about it online and loved the idea. I did it last year so I decided to do it again this year!
