Summer is almost here, and AMIGOS is excited for all of our 2019 volunteers! In order to showcase these incredible young leaders, we will be sharing “Amigos of the Week,” an ongoing series highlighting some of the awesome volunteers heading into the field soon. Here are this week’s Amigos:

Llama or sloth? Sloth
Favorite band/artist: Red Hot Chili Peppers
What’s your superpower? Shape shifting
What are you most excited to do this summer in Latin America? I can’t wait to be there and meet new, interesting people!
Why did you decide to do AMIGOS? I decided to do AMIGOS after I thought to myself: “I need to know more about the world around me.”
Favorite sports team: Boston Celtics
Favorite book: Looking for Alaska by John Green
What do you want to be when you grow up? Right now, I want to be a physical therapist.
Describe yourself in 5 words or less: Creative, tough, gritty, determined, and articulate
What’s something you want people to know? This experience will be once in a lifetime and I couldn’t be more excited!

Tori

Project: Santa Elena, Ecuador
Location: Kansas City, KS.
Favorite Food: I love pasta of all kinds, but my favorite would have to be chicken fettuccine alfredo!
Pets: I have three kitties I am OBSESSED WITH: DooDoo, Fat Louie, and Fantasia.
Llama or sloth? I would definitely pick a sloth over a llama because sloths are cute and sleep all day but have sharp claws.
Favorite band/artist: Jon Bellion, AJR, and Halsey; I’m super into more alternative/techno stuff with a cool beat.
What’s your superpower? Making cute posters/taking super artsy notes
What are you most excited to do this summer in Latin America? I can’t wait to better my Spanish and learn from people who exist in a completely different society.
Why did you decide to do AMIGOS? I discovered AMIGOS at a college fair. Since they start with an A, they were the first booth I saw on the list. My dad said, “Oh you should go to that college!” kind of as a joke, but we went over to the booth and from there it was an obvious choice!
Favorite book: My favorite series has to be The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare.
What’s something you want people to know? I’m super excited but also super nervous for next summer, and I am so ready to learn all that I can and grow as a person!
