Amigos de las Américas Prioritizes Community in the San Francisco Bay Area with New Director

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (October 25, 2018) — AMIGOS believes in the power of community, and now they are increasing investment in the San Francisco Bay Area as they introduce a new Director.

Krista Boscoe, recently hired as the AMIGOS Bay Area Director, is uniquely qualified for this role. She’s not only a former volunteer, but also a mother to AMIGOS volunteers. She has spent her last three years mobilizing resources in the Bay Area through alumni relations and fundraising. Prior to her involvement with AMIGOS, Krista served as a passionate educator and worked in schools both domestically and internationally. This new role allows her to ignite a passion for service in future generations of global leaders and volunteers.

“I have great faith in our future,” Krista says. “I work with remarkable young people all the time, and I believe in them. When I read the news, I get anxious. But when I go to work, I’m hopeful. I want that hope to permeate the Bay Area. I want this community to know that we, as adults, have the opportunity to lift young people up and create hope by providing these opportunities for them.”

This role will amplify the voice of AMIGOS and build upon the work of our five Bay Area Chapter communities. This means not only bringing in new young people to AMIGOS summer and gap programs but engaging those already in the AMIGOS family through info sessions, events, and the creation of a Bay Area Regional Council.

“Having a transformational experience helps nobody if you keep it in your pocket,” shares Krista. “Stories of hope, change, and transformation inspire everyone. When people share their stories, the energy created impacts people, whether they experienced it or not.”

Strengthening the AMIGOS voice in the Bay Area also requires that the AMIGOS community rise to the challenge. AMIGOS is calling on alumni and supporters to come together and increase visibility, community, and outreach. Whether it is connecting with local educators, joining a local Bay Area Chapter board, hosting info sessions, reaching out to interested families, or encouraging multigenerational AMIGOS experiences, you can bring the extraordinary impact of these diverse programs to more youth throughout the region.
