About the Area: La Sierra 2022
The La Sierra team is so excited to start welcoming volunteers soon! We have had so much fun exploring the La Sierra region, and we are sure you will too. From its lively cities to its serene natural landscapes, this project has everything you could possibly need to fall in love with the region.
During your time on the project, you will explore the beautiful mountains, countryside, and cities of the Cañar and Azuay provinces of Ecuador. You will learn about sustainable farming, indigenous culture and rights, and the magical scenery of Ecuador’s Sierra region. During the project, we will partner with two local agencies: Kinti Wasi and La Granja Learnaya. Both offer a unique experience and perspective that will challenge and engage volunteers so they may grow and learn throughout the program. We can’t wait to meet everyone!
Staff continues to prepare for volunteers’ arrival, and we cannot wait to welcome them soon! We typically wake up early in the morning and enjoy a cup of coffee and breakfast before starting the workday. We meet with our partner agencies, go over facilitation guides for activities with the volunteers, and enjoy some free time in the beautiful city of Cuenca, surrounded by mountains and bright sun. We absolutely love it here and are sure you all will too!
El equipo La Sierra está muy emocionado de empezar a conocer a los voluntarios pronto! La estamos pasando muy bien explorando la región La Sierra, y estamos seguros que ustedes la amarán también. Con sus ciudades vivas y vistas lindas naturales, este proyecto tiene todo que necesitarás para enamorarte de esta región.
Durante tu tiempo aquí, van a explorar las bellas montañas, campos, y ciudades de las provincias Cañar y Azuay. Ahí, van a aprender sobre la agricultura sostenible, la cultura andina indígena, y las areas más bonitas de Ecuador. Durante el proyecto tendremos dos agencias socias: Kinti Wasi y La Granja Learnaya. Las dos ofrecen una experencia uniqua por cual los voluntarios pueden desarollar y aprender.
¡El Staff continua preparándose para la bienvenida de los voluntarios! Típicamente, nos despertamos temprano, desayunamos, y tomamos un buen Cafecito antes de continuar con el trabajo. Nos reunimos con agencias conocidas, revisamos las actividades de los voluntarios, y disfrutamos de nuestro tiempo libre en Cuenca. ¡Nos encanta estar aquí, y sabemos que a ustedes les van a encantar también!
