El Orquideario y el Mercado

On June 10th, the AMIGOS volunteers visited the Orquidiario Jardín and learned about the different kinds of orchids that are native to Panama. We also helped the sanctuary by cleaning and panting the garden walls. Two students were very enthusiastic about doing this and even took time to name their wall. Ada and Noley became very attached to painting and cleaning two walls which they named the Gunkies. Arguably their walls definitely looked the best. Overall, the volunteers would call this project a success!
El 10 de junio los voluntarios de AMIGOS visitaron el Orquidiario Jardín y aprendieron sobre los diferentes tipos de orquídeas que son nativas de Panamá. También ayudamos al santuario limpiando y lijando las paredes del jardín. Dos estudiantes estaban muy entusiasmadas de hacer esto e incluso se tomaron el tiempo para nombrar su muro. Ada y Noley se encariñaron mucho con pintar y limpiar dos paredes a las que llamaron Gunkies. Podría decirse que sus paredes definitivamente eran las que mejor se veían. En general, los voluntarios llamarían a este proyecto un éxito!

El Mercado
On the 11th of June, we visited a Panamanian market and had wide access to different souvenirs and food. From bracelets and necklaces to cookies and bread the volunteers explored the local Panamanian culture. Some interviewed the shop owners and asked questions about their daily life. The AMIGOS volunteers enjoyed the freedom of shopping for the first time on the trip and it is definitely something that we look forward to doing in the capital!
El 11 de junio, visitamos un mercado panameño y tuvimos un amplio acceso a diferentes recuerdos y alimentos. Desde pulseras y collares hasta galletas y pan, los voluntarios exploraron la cultura panameña local. Algunos entrevistaron a los dueños de las tiendas e hicieron preguntas sobre su vida diaria. Los voluntarios de AMIGOS disfrutaron de la libertad de comprar por primera vez en el viaje y definitivamente es algo que esperamos hacer en la capital!
