Los Santos – Bean Voyage
We have had such an amazing time this week! Experiencing so many once-in-a-lifetime opportunities was incredible and we will never forget it! This past week, we visited three different farms with a variety of volunteer opportunities, ranging from spraying fertilizer on coffee plants to touring the farms and sorting coffee beans. Getting to meet and converse with the families who produce coffee for a living changed our perspective on the entire coffee industry. In our workshop with Bean Voyage, Amigos’s partner agency, we learned about the hardships that coffee producers face and how Bean Voyage is working to fix those issues and improve the coffee industry.
Week 2 was extremely memorable, not only because of the work experience and volunteering but because we were able to get to know each other and become much closer. From hiking together to playing cards to playing Just Dance, Session B has formed close, life-long friendships with each other that will last forever. It’s hard to believe that we have only known these people for 2 weeks – there is never a dull moment. We are all so grateful to be a part of this rewarding experience and are so sad to be leaving in a week, but we will continue to make memories and have fun for this last week.
¡Hemos tenido un tiempo increíble esta semana! ¡Experienciar tantas cosas únicas fue increíble y nunca lo olvidaremos! La semana pasada, visitamos tres fincas diferentes con una variedad de oportunidades de voluntariado, como rociar fertilizantes en las plantas de café, visitar las fincas, y clasificar los granos de café. Conocer y conversar con las familias que producen café cambió nuestra perspectiva sobre toda la industria del café. En taller con Bean Voyage, la agencia pareja de Amigos, aprendimos sobre las dificultades que enfrentan los productores de café y cómo Bean Voyage está trabajando para solucionar esos problemas y mejorar la industria del café.
La semana 2 fue extremadamente memorable, no solo por la experiencia laboral y el voluntariado, sino porque pudimos conocernos y acercarnos mucho más. Desde ir en senderos juntos hasta jugar a las cartas y jugar Just Dance, Session B ha formado amistades cercanas que durarán para siempre. Es difícil creer que solo conocemos a estas personas desde hace 2 semanas; nunca hay un momento aburrido. Todos estamos muy agradecidos de ser parte de esta gratificante experiencia y estamos muy tristes de partir en una semana, pero continuaremos creando recuerdos y divirtiéndonos durante esta última semana.
