Los Santos: Despedidas
The despedida was nice, but it was also sad to say goodbye to my host family. Especially since I had just spent a month and a half chatting, eating, and enjoying time with my host family. I knew it was gonna be sad but I did not expect the amount of emotion. Still great though. It was a quality send off. My host family also gave my partner, Leone, and I send off gifts and so did the local youth. One of our local youth is an amazing artist and she drew an amazing rendition of Buzz Lightyear. After a final wave goodbye we headed to the debriefing site—which was great too!
It was also great to spend some more time with the other participants at debriefing and exchange stories from our summer. We also hiked up Barva Volcano which was really cool! We walked up into the clouds and saw a lake that formed in one of the craters of the volcano. On our last night we had a candlelight ceremony where we shared things we are proud of accomplishing from this summer. Leaving is bittersweet!
La despedida fue agradable, pero también fue triste despedirme de mi familia anfitriona. Sobre todo porque acababa de pasar un mes y medio charlando, comiendo y disfrutando del tiempo con mi familia anfitriona. Sabía que iba a ser triste, pero no esperaba la cantidad de emoción. Sin embargo, sigue siendo genial. Fue una despedida de calidad. Mi familia anfitriona también le dio a mi compañera, Leone, y a mí, regalos, al igual que los jóvenes locales. Una de nuestras jóvenes locales es una artista increíble y dibujó una increíble interpretación de Buzz Lightyear. Después de un adiós final, nos dirigimos al sitio de Debriefing, ¡que también fue genial!
También fue genial pasar más tiempo con los otros participantes para informar e intercambiar historias de nuestro verano. ¡También subimos al volcán Barva, que fue realmente genial! Caminamos hacia las nubes y vimos un lago que se formó en uno de los cráteres del volcán. En nuestra última noche tuvimos una ceremonia a la luz de las velas donde compartimos cosas de las que estamos orgullosos de haber logrado este verano. ¡Irse es agridulce!
