Hi everyone! My name is Eleanor Dollear and I’m the Chimborazo Project Director this summer. I’m really looking forward to meeting you all in a few short months!

AMIGOS has been an important part of my life for the past decade. In 2010, I left the country for the first time to travel to Matagalpa, Nicaragua as an AMIGOS volunteer, where I had an incredible experience living with a host family, working on our service project (which was starting a small school library), doing campamentos, and eating plenty of rice and beans. Since that summer, I’ve returned to AMIGOS as a volunteer and on project staff in Paraguay, the Dominican Republic, and Colombia. I even get to work with volunteers stateside as a board member for the Chicago Urban Chapter.

I currently work at an organization called WITS, a nonprofit that works with Chicago Public School students and teachers on literacy and mentorship initiatives. I love that my job lets me work with the bright and energetic young people of Chicago. I also volunteer for an organization called Chicago Books to Women in Prison, an organization that sends free books to women who are incarcerated. In the fall, I’ll begin graduate school to study healthcare access. I also love to read (especially books of essays and graphic novels) and watch reality TV.

Please feel free to introduce yourself via email at [email protected], or send questions to that address. Again, I’m excited to meet everyone this summer, and wish you the best in preparing for the adventure you’re about to have!
