Together and Ready for Action!
Pura vidaaaa from Maria and the Montañas y Mar team! We are finally all together after I arrived on Friday in San Isidro de General to be greeted by fellow PSup, Danilo, APD, Reuben, and PD Maia. How lovely to be back in Costa Rica’s beautiful Perez Zeledon region! During my time here I’ve been continuously greeted with sweet feelings of déjà vu as it was not too long ago that I embarked on my own AMIGOS adventure as a volunteer in this exact region! I so missed the endless scenes of green sprinkled with all the colors of jungle flowers and birds, the clouds that gently hover over the hills, the typical dishes casado y gallo pinto, and all of the wonderfully kind people building community with one another.
¡Pura vidaaaa de parte de María y el equipo de Montañas y Mar! ¡Finalmente estamos todos juntos después de que llegué el viernes a San Isidro de General para ser recibida por mis compañeros PSup Danilo, APD Reuben, y PD Maia! ¡Qué alegría estar de regreso en la hermosa región de Pérez Zeledón en Costa Rica! Durante mi tiempo aquí, he sido recibida continuamente con preciosos sentimientos de déjà vu, ya que no hace mucho tiempo me embarqué en mi propia aventura de AMIGOS como voluntaria en esta misma región. ¡Extrañé tanto las infinitas escenas de verde salpicadas con todos los colores de las flores y aves de la jungla, las nubes que flotan suavemente sobre las montañas, los platos típicos como el casado y el gallo pinto, y todas las personas maravillosamente amables que construyen sus comunidades!

We are so excited to welcome Session A of volunteers and we have been working very hard to prepare for their soon arrival! The last few days have been filled with team training, buying materials, team meals and bonding, and excursions to the handful of amazing sites and organizations we will be working with during the coming weeks! On Saturday we traveled to the coastal region to visit Marino Ballena National Park, and of course we made a pit stop for a splash in the ocean! While touring the area with Coral Restoration we learnt about how this amazing organization protects the park’s biodiversity and wildlife, both on land and in water, and planned some great active excursions for the group! Both lodging sites and each of our excursions to the conservation organizations are beautiful, inspiring, and will be perfect places for our participants to enjoy the wonderful experiences of AMIGOS. Participants, we can’t wait to meet you!!
¡Estamos muy emocionados de dar la bienvenida a la sección A de voluntarios y hemos estado trabajando duro para prepararnos para su próxima llegada! Los últimos días han estado llenos de entrenamiento de equipo, compra de materiales, comidas en equipo, actividades de integración y excursiones a los increíbles lugares y organizaciones con las que estaremos trabajando en las próximas semanas. El sábado viajamos a la región costera para visitar el Parque Nacional Marino Ballena, ¡y por supuesto, hicimos una parada para darnos un chapuzón en el océano! Mientras recorremos el área con Coral Restoration, aprendimos sobre cómo esta increíble organización protege la biodiversidad y la vida silvestre del parque, tanto en tierra como en agua, ¡y planificamos algunas emocionantes excursiones activas para el grupo! Tanto los lugares de alojamiento como cada una de nuestras excursiones a las organizaciones de conservación son hermosos, inspiradores y serán lugares perfectos para que nuestros participantes disfruten de las maravillosas experiencias de AMIGOS. ¡Participantes, estamos ansiosos por conocerlos!
