Pezeta: Our Community

We arrived in Quebradas a few days ago and have already gotten really close to our host families! All of the volunteers have been connecting more each day through activities and daily conversations. Since we are not spending time on our devices, we spend the majority of our time together and have become surprisingly close in such a short amount of time.

Yesterday we met other host families and community members and learned about the rich history of Quebradas. The town is known for its lush scenery with beautiful complex ecosystems surrounding it. Today we spent the morning on an excursion to the Alexander Scutch bird sanctuary, which is one of the most biodiverse places in Costa Rica. We saw various species of birds and other animals including toucans, bats, and monkeys!

Llegamos a Quebradas hace unos días y ya nos hemos acercado mucho a nuestras familias anfitrionas. Todos los voluntarios se han estado conectando más cada día a través de actividades y conversaciones diarias. Como no pasamos tiempo en nuestros dispositivos, pasamos la mayor parte del tiempo juntos y nos hemos hecho sorprendentemente cercanos en tan poco tiempo.

Ayer conocimos a otras familias anfitrionas y miembros de la comunidad y aprendimos sobre la rica historia de Quebradas. El pueblo es conocido por su exuberante paisaje con hermosos ecosistemas complejos que lo rodean. Hoy pasamos la mañana en una excursión al santuario de aves Alexander Scutch, que es uno de los lugares con mayor biodiversidad en Costa Rica. Hemos visto varias especies de aves y otros animales, incluidos tucanes, murciélagos y monos!
